FAQS

How do I know if I need a Professional?

If you have water covering 100 square feet or more you should bring in a professional to clean up the mess. The problem with water is that it travels to many different areas of your home and may not always be obvious. At first glance it may appear only the carpet or floors are wet, however, water usually will wick up walls and baseboards, get trapped under vinyl floors, saturate sill plates, and move into others rooms you could never imagine. A professional will use different instruments that can find water in all surfaces. Call H2O Drying Solutions for professional service at 1-877-251-1752.

What do I do if my walls are wet?

First thing to do is not panic. Walls and ceilings can be dried in place as long as they are not falling down or caving in. A restoration specialist can dry walls and ceiling in place on any clean water flood. Do not allow a company to cut drywall or tear out ceiling unless the integrity of the drywall is in question. H2O has many different dives that can dry your walls and ceiling with no tear out and no need for build back. Call H2O Drying Solutions for professional service at 1-877-251-1752

What do I do if crawl space wet?

First make sure you have stopped the water source that is creating your problem in the crawl. Moisture from the crawl can cause mold issues if not handled properly. It is very important to eliminate any and all standing water. Once standing water is removed a vapor barrier should be installed over 95% of the ground. At this point drying can take place. Depending on the source of the water drying may or may not be necessary. H2O Drying Solutions can take readings in your crawl to determine humidity and moisture content of the wood below your home or business. What do I do if hardwood floors are wet?

First, real hardwood floors can be dried. Do not let a restoration company tell you otherwise. If action is taken quickly to extract and remove the water floors can be dried back to original condition. Response time is the most important step you can take when you have wet hardwood floors. What do I do if tile floor is wet?

First be sure to mop up as much of the standing water as you can. Depending on what type of surface your tile floor is laid on will determine how drying needs to take place. Tile floors on concrete take little to no drying to solve your problem. Tiles floors on wood surfaces will require drying of the sub floor. If this does not take place warping of the sub floor can take place which eventually will crack your tiles. A professional restoration company should have equipment that gives them the ability to dry the floor below the tile. Call H2O Drying Solutions for professional service at 1-877-251-1752

What do I do if vinyl floors are wet?

Vinyl floors and water do not mix. Anytime there is a flood on vinyl floors water will always get under the vinyl. There is no way to detect this unless you have a moisture meter. If water is left below a vinyl floor mold will grow. The paper on the back of the vinyl will feed the mold and if laid on OSB or plywood the problem will not go away. Can you bill insurance?

Yes H2O works with all insurance companies. While many insurers provide a list of preferred vendors the ultimate choice is up to the policy holder for who they choose to handle the cleanup and repairs. Most customers will have our technicians come out to inspect before calling their claims office. Once onsite we will usually get on the phone with your claims rep to go over the extent of the damage and the work we will doing. This also serves to provide needed information for the property adjuster and assist in expediting the claim. All you will be responsible for is your deductible on covered claims. Is time a factor?

On any flood time is a major factor. The longer water sits the more destructive it becomes. The S-500 which all restoration companies must follow says on a flood if water is not dried or cleaned up within three days tear out or rip out must occur. This means if you go past the three day period before attempting to dry out any affected area or material then the affected material would have to be torn out, cut out, and or replaced. Time is the most important factor when dealing with flooded area in your home or business. It is wisest to take steps right away and not wait around before beginning the drying process.
